Join us in Unity's comfy listening space for an evening of song and story featuring highly acclaimed Austin-based singer-songwriter Tish Hinojosa with opening duo Amber Norgaard and Sabra Faulk.

One of 13 children born to Mexican immigrant parents in San Antonio, Texas, Tish grew up in two worlds. She bridges these worlds through song, singing in both English and Spanish, pioneering a sound that blends folk, country, Tejano and pop music. Her warm stage presence, soothing melodies and heart touching stories welcome the listener into this world.

Her honors include performances for presidential and gubernatorial inauguration events, winning Indie Folk Album of the Year from NAIRD (National Association of Independent Record Distributors) for 1992’s “Culture Swing,” and winning Las Primera (The Firsts) award from MANA, the largest organization of Latino women. She’s collaborated with Joan Baez, Booker T. Jones, Flaco Jimenez, Pete Seeger and Dwight Yoakam. She has recorded as an independent artist as well as for A&M, Warner Bros, and Rounder Records and has been a featured artist on Austin City Limits, A Prairie Home Companion and other NPR programs.

With over 20 CDs to her name, Tish’s distinct sound has gained her much critical acclaim. She has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe and continues to draw a loyal and growing audience.

Amber Norgaard and Sabra Faulk will open the evening. Described as “Tucson’s folk-rock goddess” (Natural Awakenings magazine), Amber is a nurse-turned-songwriter who uses music as a healing art to foster compassion, spirituality and promote positive social change. Sabra Faulk, a former Tucson Folk Fest headliner, is an award-winning songwriter, bassist, vocalist and acoustic guitarist who has been a staple in the southern Arizona musical community for the past 30 years. Together, they weave sweet harmonies and a rootsy, soulful, fun performance.

This will be a very special evening. Come join us!
