From the recording Unexpected Grace

The title track "Unexpected Grace" was written for filmmaker Marcus De Leon's documentary film project with the Tucson Wildlife Center, a southern Arizona rescue organization that rehabilitates wild animals who have been hurt and then releases them back to the wild. However, it is a song for the masses...as everyone "come(s) broken," has to overcome "road blocks to love," and learns to let go into the grace of connection to heal and transform.

Lyrics

I came broken
Yet found my way
On an unfamiliar road
Nearing the close of the day
And the unexpected lines
Drawn by the hard hand of fate
Somehow drew us here
In this story that could not wait

CHORUS
Now I spread my wings I go there
Back to my home where nothing
Separates the land and the air
It’s where I come from
It’s all that I know
It’s the freedom, freedom, freedom of letting go

I come broken
Yet rise above
The misdirected twists and turns
All the road blocks to love
And the unexpected grace
That carries me so far beyond
The setting sun of what alone
I could not become

CHORUS
Now I spread my wings I go there
Back to my home where nothing
Separates the land and the air
It’s where I come from
It’s all that I know
It’s the freedom of letting, letting

Letting go
Back to my home
Back to my home
Back to my home
I spread my wings
I go there
Back to my home
Where nothing separates the land and the air
