The latest...

February 16, 2024

Greetings from the wintery Sonoran Desert. We were recently graced with snow-peaked mountains and temps dipping into the 30’s. Winter lasts about a week here, so I’m cherishing every moment.

It was a wild start to 2024 for me…however, I’m back in full swing. I’ve got new releases on the horizon and am busy with an abundance of (mostly private) performances (six this week!).

I’ve been writing and look forward to more studio and creation time this year, as well as live (public) performances featuring my original music.

I hope you’ve had a great start to 2024. And if it hasn’t been so great, then I hope you are getting through in grace…and that amidst it all, you remember to breathe, taking a moment to cherish that sacred breath. Life has a way with pushing us to (and often beyond) our perceived limitations. It's part of the incarnation, and this too shall pass.

Thank you for continuing on the musical journey with me. It is an honor to move through the seasons of life with you.

Much love and gratitude,

Amber

Join us in Unity's comfy "listening space" for an evening of story and song featuring the compelling Americana duo JC & Laney. They will take you on a fantastic musical journey as Laney's smooth, soulful voice both soars to heights and dives into the depths and JC Scott's amazing guitar playing and vocals fuel their songs. JC has played guitar and sang with artists such as Arlo Guthrie, Lindsey Buckingham, Kenny Loggins and Weird Al. Together, the duo is dynamic, heartfelt and fun. We are thrilled to have them join Sabra Faulk & Amber Norgaard for an exciting evening of music.

Join us in Unity's comfy listening space for an evening of song and story featuring highly acclaimed Austin-based singer-songwriter Tish Hinojosa with opening duo Amber Norgaard and Sabra Faulk.

One of 13 children born to Mexican immigrant parents in San Antonio, Texas, Tish grew up in two worlds. She bridges these worlds through song, singing in both English and Spanish, pioneering a sound that blends folk, country, Tejano and pop music. Her warm stage presence, soothing melodies and heart touching stories welcome the listener into this world.

Her honors include performances for presidential and gubernatorial inauguration events, winning Indie Folk Album of the Year from NAIRD (National Association of Independent Record Distributors) for 1992’s “Culture Swing,” and winning Las Primera (The Firsts) award from MANA, the largest organization of Latino women. She’s collaborated with Joan Baez, Booker T. Jones, Flaco Jimenez, Pete Seeger and Dwight Yoakam. She has recorded as an independent artist as well as for A&M, Warner Bros, and Rounder Records and has been a featured artist on Austin City Limits, A Prairie Home Companion and other NPR programs.

With over 20 CDs to her name, Tish’s distinct sound has gained her much critical acclaim. She has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe and continues to draw a loyal and growing audience.

Amber Norgaard and Sabra Faulk will open the evening. Described as “Tucson’s folk-rock goddess” (Natural Awakenings magazine), Amber is a nurse-turned-songwriter who uses music as a healing art to foster compassion, spirituality and promote positive social change. Sabra Faulk, a former Tucson Folk Fest headliner, is an award-winning songwriter, bassist, vocalist and acoustic guitarist who has been a staple in the southern Arizona musical community for the past 30 years. Together, they weave sweet harmonies and a rootsy, soulful, fun performance.

Join us in Unity's listening space for an evening of song and story. Sabra Faulk and Amber Norgaard team up to deliver a fun, rootsy evening of original songs and a few favorite covers. The evening opens with the fabulous vocal-oriented group Frankly Scarlett.

Sabra Faulk is an award-winning songwriter, bassist, vocalist and acoustic guitarist who has been a staple in the southern AZ musical community for the past 30 years. She joins forces with Amber Norgaard, a nurse turned musician who is described as "a songwriter to be reckoned with" (Tucson Lifestyle). Together, they weave sweet harmonies, soulful songs and an entertaining performance.

Frankly Scarlett's roots originated two years ago when Suzy Ronstadt and Kathy Harris, who have sung together with various bands for years, met up with chorale vocalist Mary Kuskin from Flagstaff. The three singers decided to do an a cappella song, and it turned out so well that they asked amazing guitarist Steff Kayser to join them. Steff agreed and the band was formed. Their new CD features Sabra Faulk on bass, and now as part of the band, she rounds out the lovely harmonies and fun songs of Frankly Scarlett.
